We were both layed off from work in the summer of 2004 and wanted a way to make extra money and do something we enjoy. We shopped around for ideas and we came up with a candle business.  Since we were very new at making candles we decide to get a starter kit, and experiment with soy candles. We picked soy candles cause of their reputation on how clean and fragrant they are when they burn. We made our first five candles in July of 2004. They turned out to be a good candle and up to our expectations. Now we needed to find a supplier for our candle business.  We surfed the internet and came across a local supplier in Ashland, WI. With us finding a supplier that met our needs. We started our business called “Mountain Scent Candles”.

   To date we sold candles threw out the southern UP of Michigan. Also supplied a store in California, and held one fund Raiser.

            Mountain Scent Candles is located in Iron Mountain, MI. we have no store front expect for our webpage and catalogs, due to the city no allowing us to open a store out of our home. Production of all candles is done in our home.
